What is a Fairest of The Fair?
The Fairest of the Fair program is a public relations position for young woman in the County. Fairest of the Fair IS NOT a beauty contest, but rather a contest that focuses on the young woman's poise, personality, confidence, community involvement, speaking ability and the ability to think on her feet. The contestants dress in business professional attire, submit a resume-like application and go through a business-like interview process. Once selected as Fairest of the Fair, the young woman attends community functions, does radio and television interviews, and participates in numerous area parades throughout the summer promoting the Winnebago County Fair. She also serves as the official hostess of the fair; which includes giving speeches, introducing entertainment and handing out ribbons to the youth.
Interested contestants must be 18 years of age as of January 1st in the year they wish to compete and have a valid driver's license. They must be a resident of Winebago County.
To become Fairest of the Fair - Contestants will provide 1 5x7 colored photograph (head and shoulders) along with the the application and send it to the Winnebago County Fairest coordinator by March 31st. The application is available here, at the Winnebago County Extension Office, or by contacting the Fairest of The Fair coordinator.

The contest is open to legal residents of Winnebago County. Students who attend out of County Colleges are eligle. Contestants must be 18 by January 1st of the current year with a valid driver's license.
Judges will be chosen by the Fairest of the Fair Committee of the Winnebago County Fair Association. The decision of the judges is final. Contestants will be judged on personality, poise, appearance, community activities, and speaking ability. Each contestant is required to present a thirty-second personal introduction and a thirty-second radio announcment promoting the Winnebago County Fair to the judges.
The chosen Fairest of The Fair must be able to attend the Wisconsin Association of Fairs convention in January to compete for the Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair's title.
Contestant agrees, if selected Fairest of The Fair, not to promote or make personal appearances for any merchant or commercial organization, or permit photographs to be used, without permission of the Fairest of the Fair Committee.
Upon selection, The Fairest of the Fair will be the official hostess for all Winnebago County Fair Activities.
The Fairest of the Fair will participate in parades, interviews and functions of her own choosing as well as those required and requested by the Winnebago County Fair Association.
ENTRY DEADLINE: March 31st of the current year. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. The contest and judging will take place in April at the J.P. Coughlin Center, date to be announced.
